Watermelon and Blueberry

After much practice I have made these two lovely macarons:
Macaron Coin Purses
The watermelon one is made with a linen fabric with printed slices of red and yellow watermelons.
I embroidered the rind and outlined the fruit.
I added seed beads for the seeds.
I used a green zipper and for the inside I used red felt to create a "watermelon" look.

The blueberry one is made with printed blueberry quilting fabric.
I used a purple zipper and for the inside I used purple felt and added tiny doilies for a decorative touch.

I am quite pleased with how pretty these two came out :)

Practicing During The Summer

Hello NCA Students :)

First of all, I hope everyone is enjoying their summer.

Secondly, club name change.  "Plushies Club" will now be "NCA Sewing Club" because we will be doing more than just creating plushies.  We will be making a variety of "non-plushies" items such as little zipper bags and the anticipated macaron coin purses.  I have been diligently practicing this summer on how to perfect the making of this difficult, as least for now, project.  As Vince Lombardi said, "Practice does not make perfect.  Only perfect practice makes perfect."  I'll be posting pictures soon of my progress.

Lastly, I hope everyone is working on at least one sewing project this summer.  If you have been, then please email me pictures and I will be happy to post them on this blog ;)

See you soon.
